Hi,

I never changed anything in it since I bought it in 2019, but I am planning now to change the HDD drive to an SSD one. Are there any recommended changes I can do to other parts? For e.g. the RAMs, shoud I change these too to 8*2 or 16*2 GB?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, you can go for Crucial P3. As for ram you can get Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4-2666 SODIMM, model- CT2K8G4SFRA266. If you want to upgrade to 32GB dual channel then you can get, Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4-2666 SODIMM, model- CT2K16G4SFRA266.

Thats all.

2x8GB= 16GB enough if you don't do multitasking while gaming. So choose here as per you usage as 16GB is still good options. Just optimize you windows to reduce ram load. Many light safe optimization  guides are available. As for drive, you should upgrade to ssd, I don't know how you survive with HDD these days. You laptop like have one m.2 slot for SSD it's NVMe (PCIe 3x4).  To confirm may I know what is your laptop product number? (Like 3WF00UA#ABA)

Many thanks Venom21 for your quick reply.

It has been sluggish for some time now, and took me extra time to know this could be the reason. I'm really bad with understanding technology.

My SKU (I assume this is what you want to know) is 4AN69EA#ABU

I'd appreciate it if you can provide me with more specs about the SSD and RAMs to buy as I'm sure compatibility might be an issue. For e.g. I read there're DDR5 RAMs now but this may not be for me.

Thanks a lot for your help. really appreciate it!

You can upgrade to 32GB (2 x 16GB) . To recommend you compatible ram, download and run CPU-Z then go to SPD tab and post screenshot. In this way I can confirm compatibility.

As for SSD, Your laptop has one M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe gen 3x4 slot which is empty because you have one HDD only, so you can install any good PCIe gen 3x4ssd. Like Samsung 970 EVO Plus,  Crucial P3, etc upto 1/2TB.

(If you looking for more cheaper option if budget-focused. This slot also support Sata SSD-3 SSD, I can provide details for that too if needed. Remember SATA-3 SSDs are much slower than Nvme)

Thanks again Venom21.

I guess I will go for Crucial P3 (something like this?) as it's cheaper than Samsung. It's good to know I can retain both drives inside the laptop, so I can only insert the new one without swapping and only clone over the system files from the C drive to the SSD so that it boots from there, is that right?

Below also is the screenshot for the RAMs. Thanks dear!SPDSPD
