Hello HP Community 👋

I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot a persistent display issue on my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0027ni.

System details:

Windows 10 Pro version 22H2 (build 19045)

BIOS F.29 Rev A (latest available for this model)

Intel UHD Graphics 630 + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (Optimus)

Original factory OS: Windows 10 version 1903 (64-bit)

Problem:
Since the 22H2 update (build 19045), the system randomly freezes or goes completely black — even when using only the internal display. I’ve already:

Reinstalled Intel UHD 630 and NVIDIA drivers several times (HP versions and Intel/NVIDIA direct versions)

Repaired Windows image (SFC / DISM)

Verified the SSD and file system are 100 % healthy

Confirmed BIOS F.29 is installed and up-to-date

The crashes seem to occur after connecting to Wi-Fi or waking from sleep, suggesting a possible Intel–NVIDIA handshake or power-state issue introduced in 22H2.

Question:
Has HP released or tested an updated BIOS or Intel display driver branch optimized for Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 for the 15-cx0xxx series?
Or would it be safer to reinstall the original Windows 10 1903 build for full compatibility with BIOS F.29?

Any official insight or working driver combinations from HP staff or other Pavilion Gaming owners would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you kindly 🙏
— Jean Claude

@Boesman34, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query.

Hi Jean Claude — thanks for providing full details. I dug into available information on your HP Pavilion Gaming 15-cx0027ni (15-cx0xxx series) issue with Windows 10 22H2 and here’s what I found — along with what I can recommend.

According to HP’s official “HP products tested with Windows 10” page, if a model is not listed as tested for Windows 10 22H2, then HP states it “may not be supported” for that version.

BIOS version F.29 appears to be the latest listed by HP for that series

Based on what you’ve described, it might be better to stick with the previous version of Windows 10 (1903 or 21H2) for now rather than upgrading to 22H2. It sounds like the update introduced issues with the graphics and power management on your laptop, and rolling back could give you better stability until a more compatible driver or BIOS update comes out. The older version should work fine with the BIOS and drivers that came with your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
