Currently I have the default storage configuration which came with the device, which is a single 1TB 5400 rpm HDD.
I was checking the compatible storage configs in the Maintenance and Service Guide on page 2 (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06446633.pdf).
Are these configurations possible:
1) 1TB 5400 rpm HDD + 256GB (or more) PCIe NVMe TLC SSD
2) 1TB 5400 rpm HDD + 512GB PCIe-3 x4 TLC M.2 NVMe SSD
Also, does it matter if the SSD has SLC, MLC, TLC or QLC NAND, in terms of compatibility?
Or only TLC SSDs work in configs where TLC is mentioned?

Hi:
You should be able to have either configuration and it doesn't matter about the NVMe SSD being SLC, MLC, TLC or QLC NAND.
Just buy a well-known brand SSD such as a Samsung or Western Digital.
My recommendation would be either the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro), or the Western Digital Blue SN570.
