Hi @Nikeee,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2010ur is experiencing unexpected reboots when not connected to the charger, there could be several reasons for this issue.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.

Check Battery Health:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant or a similar utility that may have come pre-installed on your laptop.
  • Look for a battery health or diagnostics section to check the overall condition of your laptop battery.
  • If the battery is degraded or faulty, it may be causing unexpected reboots. In such cases, you might need to replace the battery.

Power Settings:

  • Go to "Control Panel" or "Settings" on your laptop.
  • Navigate to "Power Options."
  • Check the power plan settings, especially when on battery power. Make sure it's not set to shut down or restart unexpectedly.

Update Drivers:

Windows Update:

  • Make sure that your operating system is up to date. Windows updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve unexpected issues.

Overheating:

  • Overheating can cause a laptop to shut down or reboot. Make sure the laptop's vents and fans are not blocked, and there is proper airflow.
  • Use a cooling pad to help dissipate heat more efficiently.

Check for Malware:

  • Perform a thorough scan for malware and viruses using a reputable antivirus program. Malicious software can sometimes cause unexpected behavior.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Updating the system firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

System Logs:

  • Check the Windows Event Viewer for any critical errors or warnings around the time of the reboots. This may provide clues about the cause of the issue.
