HP Pavillion Gaming Blank screen

HP Recommended
hp pavilion 15-cx0020nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop has had an issue lately of occasionally having the screen go blank. The screen stays on but wont display anything. i tried updating drivers and even doing a BIOS update that i needed to do. It will happen usually when i play video games but also occasionally at random. going to standby mode and turning it back on does fix it but it can happen again after. occasionally my screen will flash black for a moment outside of that but immediately comes back. it doesnt line up with damage or overheating of the graphics card as far as i can tell, but i genuinely dont know what could cause this.

these are the specs for my machine, if anyone can provide any info please do.

@julera Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are getting a blank screen.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Please perform the below steps and check.

Hard Reset:

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.

3) Remove the Battery. ( not for Built-in Battery computer )

4) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.

5) Plug-in the Adapter and put the Battery back into the computer if it's a (removable battery)

6) Try to turn on the computer and check, If the issue persists continue next step

Set BIOS default and restart:

  1. Restart your notebook.
  2. During startup, press F10 repeatedly until the BIOS menu is displayed.
  3. Once the BIOS menu is displayed, press F9 to restore factory defaults.
  4. Select Yes to confirm.
  5. Press F10 to save changes and exit.
  6. Select Yes to confirm.
  7. The computer restarts using the default settings.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

  1. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

  1. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  2. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  3. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
