HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 IDS Base Model

Over the past few months I've had an issue where my laptop lags whenever I play video games, including Roblox, Minecraft and Sniper Elite 5. Specifically in SE5, it will be running 60 FPS during cut scenes and then drop to 11-15 FPS for gameplay  the whole time.  The weird thing is that the games all run fine when I have my laptop unplugged. I'm fine with doing that but I only get 30-40 mins of gameplay depending on the type of game. I've looked up a lot of different solutions and i've been avoiding factory resetting my laptop. Any suggestions? I've updated my driver to the most recent as well so I know that isn't the issue.

Hi @Octsky3186,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

laptop might be experiencing some power management issues when it's running on battery. Have you checked your power settings to ensure that your laptop is set to run at maximum performance even when it's unplugged?

You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel or through the Windows settings.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for the response.

The issue is happening when the laptop is plugged in. The laptop runs very well off battery but obviously that can only be temporary until the battery runs out, which is quickly when playing a video game.

It doesn't matter if the laptop is in the middle of charging or at 100% while plugged in either. It drops the FPS to 10-15 when in game play.

This might require one-on-one interaction to fix the issue via remote assistance to understand, what is causing the issue.
