Hello. My HP Victus 15 laptop has a power issue that only happens when running on battery.

Laptop specifications

  • Model: HP Victus 15-fb1013dx (845A2UA)

  • CPU: AMD ryzen 5 7535hs

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 4GB VRAM

  • RAM: 16GB DDR5 4800 mHz

  • Storage: NVMe SSD 480 GB

  • BIOS: F.11 Rev.A

  • OS: Windows 11 PRO 64-bit

Symptoms

  • Laptop goes into a boot loop when turning on without the charger (HP logo → restart)

  • Sometimes it boots, but after a few minutes it restarts randomly

  • Happens at 100% battery and also between 80%–20%

  • No issues at all when the charger is connected — runs perfectly

  • No BSOD, it just restarts or suddenly powers off

  • If the battery reaches a certain %, it shuts down instantly

Troubleshooting already done

  • Reinstalled BIOS from external USB

  • Reinstalled Windows (from the system and from USB installer)

  • Updated all drivers

  • Ran UEFI / HP Hardware Diagnostics – all tests passed

  • Reset BIOS settings / EC reset

Issue still persists.

Notes

  • Problem only happens on battery power

  • With AC power, the laptop works flawlessly (no loops, no crashes, boots fast)

Hi @perrtio,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing power issues with your HP Victus 15 laptop. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you might want to try to resolve the problem.

  • Battery Health Check: Make sure to check the battery's health using the HP Support Assistant or any other battery diagnostic tool. If the battery has significantly degraded, it might need to be replaced.
  • BIOS Update: Ensure that the BIOS is up to date. An outdated BIOS can lead to stability issues. Visit the HP Support website to check for any available updates for your specific model.
  • Battery Calibration: Calibrate the battery by fully charging it, then completely discharging it, and finally recharging it to 100% again. This can help improve battery accuracy and performance.
  • Check Power Settings: Go into the Windows power settings and ensure that the power plan is configured correctly. Sometimes, power management settings can cause unexpected behavior.
  • Driver Updates: Update all device drivers, specifically focusing on chipset and power management drivers.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run a full hardware diagnostic using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool. It can help identify if there are any underlying hardware issues.
  • Power Reset: Perform a power reset by turning off the laptop, removing the battery (if possible), and holding down the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power. Reinstall the battery and try to turn it back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
