My HP Victus laptop’s hinge makes a noticeable creaking or grinding sound whenever I open or close the lid. The laptop has no visible physical damage, and the hinge appears intact from the outside. I have already tried cleaning the hinge area and applying external lubrication, but the noise has not improved,

Hi @Atharvav937

Thanks for the detailed description — I understand how concerning hinge noises can be, especially on a relatively new HP Victus laptop. You're doing the right thing by addressing it early.

Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know and do next:

What This Could Mean

A creaking or grinding hinge (even without visible damage) can indicate:

Internal hinge misalignment or stress

Loose internal screws near the hinge assembly

Wear in the hinge barrel or friction points — which might get worse with regular use

Using external lubrication helps only in rare cases and may not reach the internal hinge mechanism where the issue usually lies.
