Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d1 (53F54AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I've recently (not so recently, a month ago with my first paycheck ever) upgraded my Laptop, it is the HP Victus 16-d1035nt, I've purchased one external SSD, Samsung T9 and i've purchased two rams in two seperate packs as there wasn't any containing both of them in one sadly, I've purchased two Corsair 16 gigabyte rams and made sure they were the same specs.

"Vengeance SODIMM DDR5 16 GIG 4800MHz" It worked fine at first then i noticed that my computer would begin to randomly freeze up and the sound would repeat, what's odd is that this nearly always happened when i'm not playing a game, for example, while watching youtube the computer would freeze and the sound would go "Hello every-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y" and it wouldn't stop no matter what i do, I had to shut down my laptop through pressing down the power button and this error occurs every day nearly twice or thrice without any prompting, the computer doesn't overheat or anything akin to that, I've checked if it's the driver but the driver seems to be up to date as microsoft doesn't say that there are any issues related to the driver.

I'm just so confused, the biggest issue i feel is ram incompatability but it's past the date where i can return it so i'm just hoping it isn't anything akin to that. Hopefully it's something i can fix and continue playing. before ending i would like to state that the computer DOES register the ram, It states that there is 32 gigs of ram up for use, if that is important.

@WildWehraboo, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your issue with the HP Victus 16-d1035nt. I understand how frustrating it can be to experience random freezes and sound loops, especially when you're trying to enjoy your laptop.

Based on your description, it seems that the root cause could be related to memory compatibility. The HP Victus 16-d1035nt is designed to support dual-channel memory configurations, but it has specific memory specifications that must be followed for optimal performance and stability. From what you've mentioned, you're using Corsair Vengeance SODIMM DDR5 16 GB 4800MHz, which, while a good memory module, may not be fully compatible with your system due to its specifications.

Here's the official memory configuration supported by your laptop:

Dual-channel support with two SODIMM slots.

Memory compatibility:

DDR4-3200 MHz for Core i7 processors.

DDR4-2933 MHz for Core i5 processors.

Supported configurations for RAM:

32 GB (16 GB x 2)

16 GB (8 GB x 2)

12 GB (8 GB + 4 GB)

8 GB (4 GB x 2 or 8 GB x 1)

Unfortunately, DDR5 RAM isn't officially supported on your laptop, and this could be causing the instability issues you're seeing. While your system may register the 32 GB of RAM, using DDR5 (which is designed for next-gen systems) on a laptop that only supports DDR4 could lead to random freezes and crashes, as you've described.

Recommended Action:

Replace the DDR5 RAM with DDR4 RAM that matches your laptop's official specifications (DDR4-3200 for Core i7 or DDR4-2933 for Core i5 processors).

You should be able to find 32 GB kits of DDR4-3200 MHz memory that will work well with your system and provide a stable experience.

I hope this helps.
