HP Victus hinge area popped open/cracked

Many victus owners including me are having the issue of hinge area being popped open or cracked with just regular use, no accidental drop or anything. I faced this ~1yr 10months later but some are facing even sooner. Here is a video link for same [content removed]

I didn't take it to service center as mine is out of warranty but some reported service centers are charging ~150usd for repair which includes replacing whole hinge assembly. I think that's quite high considering its kind of a design flaw or build issue.
