Hello,

I have an HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fb0029nl.

The battery charging LED turns on and stays solid, and the battery is fully charged.

However, when I press the power button:

• the laptop does not turn on at all

• no fans spin

• no sound or lights appear

• the device does not warm up

I have already tried a hard reset (holding the power button for 30–40 seconds with the charger disconnected) and the BIOS recovery key combinations, but there is no response.

Hi @Leonardo43

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing everything you’ve already tried. When a system sits completely still like this—no fan stir, no keyboard glow, no warmth—it can feel unsettling, and I appreciate the careful steps you’ve already taken.

Let’s walk through a deeper set of checks to help bring the device back to life.

Here are some detailed steps that often revive a Victus model that shows a charging light but no power response:

Power‑drain with both battery and charger isolated

This helps clear any static buildup that can silently block startup.

• Disconnect the charger
• Disconnect all accessories
• Hold the power button for a full 45 seconds
• Leave the laptop untouched for 2 minutes
• Reconnect only the charger
• Try powering on again

The goal is to let the internal circuits fully discharge before attempting a fresh start.

Check the power button behavior closely

Sometimes the button feels normal but doesn’t actually trigger the board.

• Press the power button firmly for 2–3 seconds
• Try a short tap
• Try holding it for 10–12 seconds
• Try pressing the power button while the charger is connected and again with it disconnected

If the button feels unusually soft, loose, or unresponsive, that detail matters.

Try a different wall outlet and a different charger if available

Even though the charging LED glows, the system may not be receiving enough stable power to initialize.

• Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet
• Avoid extension cords or surge protectors
• If you have access to another compatible HP charger, test with that as well

A steady charging LED doesn’t always guarantee proper startup voltage.

Attempt a display‑only wake test

Sometimes the system powers on silently but the display stays dark.

• Connect an external monitor via HDMI
• Press the power button
• Wait 20–30 seconds
• Press the keyboard brightness keys
• Press the Caps Lock key and watch for any flicker in the LED
• Listen closely for any faint coil whine or warmth near the vents

If absolutely nothing changes—no warmth, no keyboard flicker, no external display signal—it suggests the board is not initializing at all.

Try the memory reseat method (only if you’re comfortable)

A loose memory module can prevent power‑on with no visible signs.

• Disconnect the charger
• Hold the power button for 20 seconds
• Open the bottom cover carefully
• Remove the RAM modules
• Reinsert them firmly until they click
• Reassemble and try powering on again

If you’re not comfortable opening the device, you can skip this step.

Check for life signs through the charging LED

The charging LED can reveal subtle clues:

• Connect the charger
• Watch the LED for 10–15 seconds
• If it stays solid and never blinks, the battery is detected but the system is not attempting to start
• If it blinks once when pressing the power button, note that—it indicates the button is being registered
• If it does not react at all to the power button, the signal may not be reaching the board

Try powering on with the battery disconnected

If you’re comfortable opening the laptop:

• Disconnect the internal battery cable
• Connect the charger only
• Try powering on
• If it turns on this way, reconnect the battery and test again

This isolates the battery from the power circuit.

If after all these steps the laptop remains completely silent—no warmth, no fan twitch, no LED reaction to the power button—then the system is not completing the initial power sequence. You’ve already done the right foundational steps, and these additional checks help narrow down whether the issue is with the power button path, memory, or the system board.

If you’d like, you can tell me what you observed during these steps, and I’ll help you interpret the behavior.
