Hi,

I have a strange issue with battery optimization. I've set it in the bios to stop charging at 50% battery. Sometimes it stops, but not every time.

I've noticed that once you shut down the PC, and keep charger plugged in, it keeps the level at 50%, but once you turn it on again, it immediately stars to charge to 100%. If I see that it starts to charge above 50%, I unplug the charger, and put it back in, charging stops.

This is very annoying and HP support does not seem to help at all.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the battery is charging over the set levels in the BIOS.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

What is the product number of your computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

Hi,

Problem is still present when I'm in BIOS and not booted to Windows. As this is a BIOS setting, this should not influenced in any way. I'm pretty sure there's a bug in BIOS firmware or I have a faulty charge controller in my PC.

I recommend you contact support to further diagnose the issue.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
