HP Omen 15-dc1013nq
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello Everry one,
I am in a bit of a pickle. I have an HP omen 15-dc1013nq with processor Intel® Core ™ i5-8300H up to 4.00 GHz, Coffee Lake, 15.6", 8GB RAM, RTX 2060, Intel SSDSC2BW480A4 (in the place of the normal HDD).

Lately i have been having the issue of the screen going black (with an external monitor as well on every port). This happens when I start playng games. The sceen goes black but the laptop is lit and going,
I can even hear the sound from actions in the game while i press buttons. This happens only when i am plugged in the power. When i am not plugged i play on mid performance and the screen never turns black no matter the temps. The only thing that fixes it is a restart.
I know it is not a temperature issue because this happens even in the beggining of some games while my temps are really low. And i can even work with higher temps and not have the screen go black.
I tried to plug in the power midgame and see what will happen - the game goes to full load maxes out and the screen goes black instantly (only when gaming)

I have tried to see if it is a power setting but it is not from that.
I tried reinstalling an older gpu driver, reinstaling current one and it is still going the same way with the new one (I tried in safemode as well).
I tried to see if the screen doesn't just dimm to much trying both Screen Brightness buttons.
I tried trouble shooting checks but all return that everything is okay.
I also don't get any Error logs that can help me figure it out.

I don't think it is some loose cables or connectors because this happens ony at certain cases where i have an above middle to heavy load on the laptop.
I have read a lot of topics on the forum and tried all that i found, but still nothing.

What i have NOT tried is to reinstall windows because i can't right now.
Pleasehelp a man out.

P.S.
I tried to go to the Graphic settings and select a game to start in power saving graphics and that help but in the way that the screen lasted longer but still went black.
I can play with no worries when i am unplugged and I play on half the GPU potential.

Is my GPU dying? Or is it some kind of "not getting enough juice" and just shutting off.

I have no idea and no warranty.

Thanks in advance!

Rumen

Hello @Rumen_Tsv

Did you buy that Omen used?  Otherwise, that model only came out about 6 months ago so you couldn't be out of warranty yet.

Have you tried to run the UEFI Diagnostics?

Rapidly tap F2 at power-on until the diag menu appears.

With the laptop plugged in, run the Extensive Tests for everything.

This will take a few hours.

You might have to try reinstalling Windows as a last resort. Otherwise with all you have done, I think you might have to contact HP for direct help.

Thnks, for the reply first of all.

I got what the issue was and it was idiotic. I had downloaded the series specific firmware and not the model ones. Seems the Model ones have one more that is a power utility firmware that i did not have.

I am sorry to have wasted time. my bad.
