Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My HP omen shuts down three seconds after i close the lid. There is a click sound and it turns off. I hav gone through the power settings and set it to DO nothing when i close the lid, but the problem still prersists. I even opened the back cover and cleaned the connections, took out battery, RAM, connections and put them back together again. THE machine works fine otherwise but as soon as the lid is closed it shuts down with a click in about three seconds like the power jst went out.

Hello, @dutykalz

You’ve already tried the common software fixes for this issue by adjusting the power settings. Since the problem persists, it might be a hardware-related issue, such as a faulty lid sensor or an issue with the power button mechanism. Here are a few steps you could try:

BIOS Settings: Check your BIOS settings to see if there’s an option related to lid closing behavior that might be overriding your Windows settings.
System Diagnostics: Run HP’s built-in hardware diagnostics to check for any hardware issues. You can usually access this by pressing F2 or Esc during boot-up.

Remember to back up your data regularly, especially when experiencing issues like this, to prevent data loss.

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Best Regard,
Gregory Chavez
