@Vignesh241, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Victus laptop is heating up within 10 minutes of use, and I’ll be glad to help you troubleshoot this.

Common Causes of Heating:

  1. High CPU/GPU usage (e.g., gaming, video editing, background apps)
  2. Dust buildup in vents or fans
  3. Outdated BIOS or drivers
  4. Blocked air vents (e.g., using the laptop on a bed or soft surface)
  5. Thermal management settings not optimized

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware or drivers can cause thermal mismanagement.

Use HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and install updates: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Alternatively, manually check for updates: Official HP® Support

Check for Background Processes

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
  • Look for apps using high CPU, GPU, or Disk
  • End unnecessary tasks

Adjust Power Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options
  • Select HP Recommended or Balanced
  • Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings
  • Under Processor power management, set:
    • Maximum processor state to 90%
    • System cooling policy to Active

Clean Air Vents

  • Use compressed air to gently blow out dust from the vents
  • Ensure the laptop is on a hard, flat surface for proper airflow

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly
  • Run the System Tests > Thermal Test to check for hardware issues

Update Windows

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
