HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there, i dont know what has happened to my laptop suddenly, it has enough storage as i have all my games installed on my external seagate expansion drive of 5tb it was working perfectly fine for the past 1 year but suddenly from a week back i am experiencing heavy fps drop in fortnite and even other games, i was smoothly getting 100-150 fps in fortnite....  i have even updated all my drivers ... wheather it is the nvidia drivers or the intel ones.... i am really frustrated with this.... i had bought my laptop in october(2018) and it has hardly been 2 years.... i am very disappointed that a hp product could not even last for  2 complete years..... i have an external monitor connected to my laptop ( MSI OPTIX MAG241c with 144hz refresh rate).... that should not be any problem with fps.... even when i remove the monitor still i am experiencing same fps drop....plz look into the matter or else replace my device.... because this is not the way a hp product can perform... HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED AND DISSATISFIED

@Sarthakmehta,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with FPS drops when gaming.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.

Right-click your desktop background and select NVIDIA Control Panel. You can also find this tool by performing a Start menu (or Start screen) search for NVIDIA Control Panel or by right-clicking the NVIDIA icon in your system tray and selecting Open NVIDIA Control Panel.

To quickly set a system-wide preference, you could use the Adjust image settings with the preview option. For example, if you have old hardware that struggles to play the games you want to play, you may want to select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider all the way to “Performance.” This trades graphics quality for an increased frame rate.

By default, the “Use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected. You can select Manage 3D settings and change advanced settings for all programs on your computer or just for specific games. NVIDIA keeps a database of the optimal settings for various games, but you’re free to tweak individual settings here. Just mouse-over an option for an explanation of what it does.

If you have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology — that is, both NVIDIA and Intel graphics — this is the same place you can choose which applications will use the NVIDIA hardware and which will use the Intel hardware.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

By any chance does this laptop have 8 gigs of 2 socket 4 gig rams with integrated gpu? If such is the case would you check your system for how much usable ram you have? I wish i could have my 8 gigs of ram as well since it is nessecary for most applications, but now i have to buy ram. What can i say? I feel cheated to be fair.
