The laptop started to crash in games. The PC is clean, Windows is also clean. It turned out that the video card goes into overclocking to 1950 megahertz, and the video card memory to 5500 megahertz. It is possible to limit it programmatically, But some games start to lag. What to do?

Hi @Laybren,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Victus 15 is experiencing crashes in games and the GPU is overclocking beyond stable levels, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check for Thermal Issues:
- Temperature Monitoring: Use software like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to check the GPU and CPU temperatures while gaming. Overheating can cause instability and crashes.
- Cooling Solutions: Ensure that your laptop’s vents are clear of dust and debris. Consider using a cooling pad to help manage temperatures.
2. Update Drivers:
- Graphics Drivers: Make sure you have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed. You can download them directly from the NVIDIA website.
- Windows Updates: Check for any pending Windows updates that may improve performance and stability.
3. Adjust Graphics Settings:
- Lower the graphics settings in the games that are crashing. This can help reduce the load on the GPU and prevent it from reaching unstable overclocked speeds.
- Consider using the in-game options for V-Sync or Frame Rate Limit to stabilize performance.
4. Limit GPU Performance:
- If the GPU is overclocking too aggressively, you can use software like MSI Afterburner to set a custom power limit or reduce the core and memory clock speeds slightly to achieve stable performance.
5. Run a System Check:
- Use the built-in Windows tools to check for system file integrity. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
- Also, check for disk errors by running:
6. Reinstall or Repair Games:
- If the crashes are specific to certain games, try verifying the game files through the platform (Steam, Epic Games, etc.) or reinstalling them.
7. Power Settings:
- Ensure your laptop is set to "High Performance" mode in the Windows power settings. This can help maintain performance levels during gaming sessions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi. I tried to limit, in some games it helped. Windows and the laptop itself are clean, temperatures are normal. There is a problem with the fact that if you limit the video card memory frequencies, it allows you to limit the memory to either 5500 megahertz or higher, and if you lower it, then immediately becomes 700 megahertz. This is the problem, it is not enough for games, and if you do not limit it, it crashes. I do all this in msi
