17-cb0006na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Last week Nvidia released a GPU driver update, and so the GeForce Experience app that came pre-installed on my laptop prompted me to install the new driver. After this driver update Windows no longer recognises that my system has an RTX 2070 installed.

This issue isn't unique to me, as I'm aware of 2 other users with the exact same laptop, the 17-cb0006na, who have experienced the very same issue.

My biggest concern isn't that I can't fix the issue, it's that every time I fix it the problem returns next time I reboot my laptop. I first fixed it my restoring the machine to the date before the update, but the problem returned after reboot. I then used DDU to remove the drivers and reinstalled them fresh, which resulted in everything working perfectly again, but then after rebooting the drivers disappeared. Every time I boot this laptop it removes the GPU drivers.

My only option now appears to be reinstalling Windows completely. Which worries me for several reason, not least being that I shouldn't have to do this with a new machine! My biggest concern is that another owner of this machine I have spoken to has had the issue return after reinstalling Windows.

Clearly there is an issue with this HP machine.

@AnApeNamedJoe,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand you are facing issues with the graphics driver on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you uninstall the graphics driver from device manager and then download and install the driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.
