Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (7E8Q2AV)

Screenshot 2025-06-13 212142.pngScreenshot 2025-06-13 212047.pngScreenshot 2025-06-13 212011.pngHi HP Community,

I'm experiencing unusually high RAM usage on my HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15, and I can't find a logical explanation for it. I’ve attached screenshots of my Task Manager for reference.

In the first screenshot (Task Manager - Memory tab), my system shows 13.5 GB of RAM in use out of 16 GB (87%), with only 2.0 GB available. The committed memory is 14.5/21.1 GB, and the memory composition shows significant usage despite not running heavy applications.

In the second screenshot (Task Manager - Processes tab), the top RAM consumers are:

  • Opera GX: 1,886.5 MB

  • Spotify : 1,363.1 MB

  • Discord : 801.2 MB

  • Windows Modules Installer Worker: 690.3 MB ( I was deleting temp files through storage sense )

  • Microsoft Edge: 258.7 MB ( I dont use it. Also its disabled in my startup list )

  • Search: 241.0 MB

The total RAM usage from these processes adds up to around 2.4 GB (as seen in the third screenshot from ChatGPT's analysis), which doesn’t account for the 13.5 GB being used. I also have several browser extensions running, but they shouldn't consume this much memory.

In the third screenshot (ChatGPT window), I was troubleshooting the issue, and it confirmed the total RAM usage from the listed processes is only 2.4 GB, yet the system reports 13.5 GB in use. This discrepancy is puzzling.

My system specs from Task Manager:

  • Total RAM: 16 GB

  • Speed: 3200 MT/s

  • Slots used: 2 of 2

  • Form factor: SODIMM

  • Hardware reserved: 360 MB

I’m not running any heavy games or applications that would justify this usage. I’ve tried closing unnecessary programs, but the RAM usage remains high. Has anyone else experienced this issue on an HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15? Could this be a driver issue, a memory leak, or something else? Any suggestions on how to diagnose or fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, the sum of these processes you indicate is approximately  5239 MB  ,

Well, the sum of these processes that you indicate are approximately,

which multiply by 0.001  is 5.23 GB.

1 MB = 0.001 Gb

I don't understand where you calculate 2.4 GB

I am very sorry for that error
Yeah the processes were  using a total of 5.23 gb at that time but there is 13.4 gb memory in use
what is wrong with this I am just confused really
I also performed

Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for ram issues but it didn't show any errors.

That is the sum only of the 6 main processes, if you add the rest surely reaches 13 GB, and remember that many processes are activated in the background and do not always release all the memory when they finish the process because they remain in the cache. The first thing I would do is to go into windows settings to see all the installed programs and disable them running in the background

I just now calculated all the processes and its approx 6000 mb and as of now the current committed memory is 12.3 gb.
And for the background processes I have most of the stuff disabled in startup
background uses are there but I dont think they can account for the rest of the memory thats gone
