HP Omen 15t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Omen 15t gtx 1070 max q with 256 gb SSD NVMe M.2 and 1tb HD. I want to upgrade my current ssd to a WD Black 1TB  NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD. Would that work with my laptop? How would I upgrade? Whats the process of transfering all my files from my old ssd to the new one?

Hello @MadAngry

Not sure why the name, but ok.

Yes you can upgrade to the WD black SSD. Some users clone the drives but many times they run into issues with getting the cloned drive to be recognized. I think its better to use the HP Recovery USB Media that you create first, to clean install to the New SSD. Less problems that way.  There are several ways you can transfer data to the new drive. Copy the data to a backup external HDD, then copy over to the new drive. This way you have a backup copy now to use when necessary.

Is this what you're looking for ?

IF your HP is working now, you can simply go to the Start menu> H> HP Help and Support> HP Recovery Media Creation.

You will need a 16 GB USB pen drive.

It will prompt you on what to do.

Disconnect the power and install the SSD.

Start the PC and tap tap tap the F9 key to boot from the USB Recovery pen drive.

It will prompt you what to do if you boot to it successfully.

Let me know if you need further help.

You didnt mention the full product number. Tell me what it is and i can send you the manual for it.

Open the HP Support Assistant for the number.
