HP Omen 15-ce084no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

New HP Omen Laptop owner, which is(glad to say) generally pleased with the overall performance of my new laptop!  🙂

However, I use and plan to use, the laptop for approx. 60% work and 40% gaming.  So I find the noise levels coming from the laptop to be about equally important, in terms of enjoying working with my new laptop.

And I find it pretty annoying the fans keep spinnning up and down, when I use the laptop for websurfing and lighter office work. So, it would be pretty usefull, if I was able to select at which temperature threshold the differnt fans should start to spin-up.  Naturally I would try and select a slightly higher temp, if this would stop the fans from spinng when the laptop is not taxed with heavy cpu tasks.

I already tried using the Power Saving windows profile and lowering the Max cpu speed to something like 20-30%. But that still seems to not be enough. Also tried using a CPU core-parking tool and enabled max parking, so only 2 cores are active at a time....but still is not enough.

Only thing left to try, I can come up with, is lowering the CPU/GPU voltage and perhaps applying new cooling paste on the CPU/GPU cooling. Perhaps swapping out the factory fans with new low-noise cooling fans......but nearly all of these suggestions probably breaks the warranty and I would also prefere not to feel forced to do any dissassambly after only having owned the laptop for a week!  😉

Hope there are some "experts" in here, that can assist me with some good advices!  🙂

Ps: Have attached images of my laptops idle temp. values right after the "noisy" fan stops spinning(there still is the low hiss fan active)and this is just an effort to try be ahead of questions, regarding any temp issue concearns with my system!  😉

Cheers!

I hear from your post that your omen is too loud with regarding the fans. I have an omen 15-ax033dx. I threw in the arctic silver 5 thermal paste and it works great. To answer your questions, i do not believe you can set a manual fan speed, i wish though, bc i need it, however, u der all circumstances, DO NOT tweak your voltages, too little and it will “choke” and your performance will drop severely, and its life will be shortened badly. That is a no no. You can try a Flash of your BIOS. Be cautious though because that can be risky, only do bios uodates if u need to. But if you have tried a lot, I recommend you look into that, again, be careful with that though, if it fails you can brick your computer. Cheers!

I might be a little late, However i did use the intel software XTU to undervolt my omen.
i have a i7 7700HQ and am running it for over 2 months with -0.150 V
i did not manage undervolting the GPU but the PC is alot more quiet now AND i dont have anymore thermal throtteling while playing games in crazy resolution.

I was able to lower my package temp of the CPU of up to 10°C... that makes a big difference 😛

undervolting does not damage your PC as far as i know. i have never read about any of it damaging any part of the CPU... and even if you go to low (in my case -0.170V) then the pc just restarts and sets the volt offset back to 0.
(which also means that you have to set the offset everytime you restart the PC)

I hope i was able to help.
