How is my ram configured? 1x8 or 2x4. Pls also specify the brand name if same for others.

You can check it using CPU-Z software. Download and  open it, then go to Spd tab and use the top dropdown to select each slot.

If one slot shows "Module Size: 8192 MB" (or "8 GBytes") and the other is blank, it's 1x8GB. If two slots each show "Module Size: 4096 MB" (or "4 GBytes"), it's 2x4GB.

 

Additionally, It's memory tab will show other ram specs like Brand, frequency (which will half of total), voltage, etc.

Same, Launch CPU-Z after installation. Switch to the SPD tab and to view ram manufacturer (brand), part number, and serial number directly.
