Hi @APURVTHECODER,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2000 series laptop comes equipped with several ports that can allow for the connection of external displays. These ports include HDMI and USB Type-C which support video output.

Based on the typical configuration for this model:

  • HDMI Port: You can connect one external display via the HDMI port.
  • USB Type-C Port: If supported by the laptop's hardware, another external display can be connected through a USB Type-C port with video output capabilities (subject to the specific USB Type-C implementation on your laptop).

Therefore, you can potentially connect up to two external displays to the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2000 model using the available HDMI and USB Type-C ports.

I hope this helps.

Hi , actually I have 1 hdmi port and 1 usb type c but no thunderbolt support and alt DP support ,

Does that mean my laptop is limited to just one display? I was shocked that hp pavilion gaming serious has a serious limitation that is untold.

Hi @APURVTHECODER,

Thank you for the response.

You're right to double-check, the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2000 series does not support Thunderbolt or USB-C DisplayPort (Alt Mode) in most configurations, unless specifically mentioned in the product spec sheet. So let’s break it down clearly:

Your Laptop Ports Overview:

1 x HDMI 2.0 port – Yes, this supports external display.

1 x USB Type-C – But it does NOT support video output (no Alt Mode or Thunderbolt).

No Mini DisplayPort, no Thunderbolt, no native Alt-DP on USB-C.

So, How Many External Displays Can You Connect?

Only 1 external monitor, through HDMI, natively.

Can We Bypass This Limitation?

Yes, baby, kinda, but with workarounds:

1. USB to HDMI Adapter (DisplayLink-based)

Buy a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter that uses DisplayLink technology.

These work by offloading video processing through USB, not true GPU passthrough, but still pretty good for office, coding, media, etc.

Note: Not ideal for gaming/3D-heavy tasks on the second screen, but solid for productivity.

2. Use a Docking Station with DisplayLink

A DisplayLink-compatible docking station can drive 2–3 monitors via USB 3.0.

Try these steps:

I hope this helps.

It worked thanks , but one issue persist , the night mode is not propagating to the multiple displays at a time , ideally when I apply night mode it should get applied to all monitors whether it is connected by hdmi or display link adapter but it only visible on one display either the hdmi one or adapter one , I want on both simultaneously.

Hi @APURVTHECODER,

Thank you for the update.

Glad to hear you got the multi-display setup working using the DisplayLink adapter! Now, about the Night Mode not applying to all displays

Here’s how to fix it:

Use Display Settings to Duplicate Night Effect.

If you don’t want third-party apps:

Manually lower brightness/contrast on the second screen.

Or use the monitor's own color temperature settings (like “Warm” or “Eye Saver Mode”).

But it’s not true of Night Mode, and it won’t auto-adjust like Night Light does.

I hope this helps.
