Hi all,

Please could someone advise me how easily enable / disable built in webcam on HP Victus 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop Intel I7. For privacy. I can't find a hard privacy switch. Is there a software one?

Kind regards

Mark

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

You can follow the below steps:

Method 1: Using Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Cameras (or Imaging devices on some systems).
  3. Right‑click your Integrated Camera (HP Wide Vision or similar).
  • To disable: choose Disable device.
  • To enable: choose Enable device.

Method 2: Using Windows Settings (Privacy Control)

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & security > Camera.
  3. Toggle the switch On/Off to enable or disable camera access for apps.
  • This doesn’t fully disable the hardware, but it blocks apps from using it.

Method 3: Keyboard Shortcut (if available)

  • Some HP laptops include a function key (Fn + F10 or similar) with a camera icon.
  • Pressing it can quickly toggle the webcam on/off.
  • Check your keyboard row for a small camera symbol.

Method 4: Physical Shutter (Model‑Dependent)

  • Certain HP models have a privacy shutter near the webcam.
  • Slide it to cover/uncover the lens.
  • This is the simplest way to block the camera physically.

I hope this helps.
