Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I am trying to improve the storage on my HP Envy x360 17inch laptop. It has only 500gb storage, but otherwise has been decent enough that I can game on it (12gb ram and intel i7). Now I am having trouble fitting all my games on my desktop and was looking to improve that aspect. I've had some hardware experience building a desktop years ago. I was browsing some tutorials online, but I am unsure where to start searching for a new HDD. I saw someone mention 9.5mm HDD, is this all i need to know in terms of correct sizing? Also, another question on my mind, would a 2 or 3 tb HDD have similar performance to what came loaded on my laptop? Thanks in advance I really will appreciate help or pointers.

What is your machine ? Envy 17 or Envy 15 ? If Envy 15, what EXACTLY is your 15m-ed0xxx :  Please use System Information to find out SKU of your machine. For example
