Hi @Sudharsathya,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To address the issues you're experiencing with your HP Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop, let's break down the situation and potential solutions.

Charging Time and Battery Life

  • Charging Time: A 3-cell, 52.5 Wh Li-ion polymer battery typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to fully charge from 0% to 100% with a 150 W Smart AC power adapter. Your observation of 1.5 hours to full charge aligns with expected performance.
  • Battery Backup: The 2.3 hours of backup time while using the laptop for activities like watching movies, social media, and using Figma suggests high power consumption, which is normal for a gaming laptop under such usage. However, for a new battery, it might be slightly low.

Potential Issues and Solutions

Battery Calibration: Sometimes, new batteries need to be calibrated. Here's how to do it:

  • Charge your battery to 100%.
  • Disconnect the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts down.
  • Recharge the battery to 100% without interruption.
  • Repeat this cycle once or twice.

Power Settings: Ensure that your power settings are optimized for battery life:

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep.
  • Adjust settings for screen and sleep to be more power-efficient.
  • Use the "Battery Saver" mode when not plugged in.

Background Processes: Check if there are unnecessary background processes consuming power:

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • Go to the "Processes" tab and look for high CPU or memory usage processes.
  • End tasks that are not essential.

BIOS and Drivers Update: Ensure your BIOS and all drivers are up to date. Sometimes, battery issues are resolved with firmware or driver updates.

  • Visit the HP support website and enter your laptop model to check for updates.

Battery Health Check: Perform a battery health check using HP Support Assistant:

  • Open HP Support Assistant and go to the "Battery" tab.
  • Run the battery check to see if there are any issues detected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
