Hp Omen Max has a very long Boot time. It takes around 50 seconds from the moment i press the power on button to the login screen. I did a clean install of windows 11 through hp media creation tool. I updated all the drivers. I updated the firmware and bios as well. I enabled fast boot under windows 11 settings. I did all this but to no avail. The BIOS time itself is somewhere around 20+ seconds. This machine a very high configuration (20 core intel cpu, 64gb ram, rtx 5080) and yet its booting time is very slow.

If i keep the charger plugged in, than it boots in around 23 seconds but if it is unplugged for few hours, than it takes around 50-60 seconds. Kindly assist. This is

Hi @swee2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused and don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • When the BIOS takes 20+ seconds, do you notice any pauses or messages on-screen (e.g., HP logo staying longer than usual)?
  • Have you made any changes to the boot order in BIOS (such as enabling legacy boot or multiple devices in the boot list)?
  • Does the system have any external devices connected (USB drives, external HDDs, peripherals) during startup?
  • Have you noticed if the battery level or charging status affects the boot speed consistently, or only after being unplugged for several hours?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Check BIOS settings: Disable unnecessary boot devices (like network boot or USB boot) so the system doesn’t spend time scanning them.
  • HP Hardware Diagnostics: Run the built-in HP diagnostics (press F2 at startup) to check if the battery or storage drive is causing delays.
  • Hybrid sleep/hibernate settings: In Windows power options, ensure “Fast Startup” is enabled, but also check if hybrid sleep or hibernate settings are interfering.
  • Battery calibration: Since boot speed changes when plugged in vs. unplugged, recalibrating the battery (fully charge, then fully discharge once) may help the system manage power states more efficiently

I hope this helps.
