OMEN by HP 15-dh0137tx
Microsoft Windows 11

Suddenly my laptop's speaker stopped working. I am unable to install any realtek audio driver as well. If I connect headphones via 3.5 mm jack then headphones are also not working. Headphones connected via usb or via bluetooth are working fine. I have reinstalled the windows 11 still it's not working. I have been trying since 4-5 days but no result. Please help.

Hi @Unkown21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the speakers on your HP Omen dh0137tx laptop are not working, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the issue.

Check the Volume:

  • Make sure the volume is not muted or set too low. Check the volume settings both in Windows and any application you're trying to use.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve software-related issues that may be causing the speakers to not work.

Check the Sound Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner) and select "Open Sound settings." Ensure that the correct output device is selected under the "Output" section.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupt audio drivers can cause speaker issues. Visit the HP support website and download the latest audio drivers for your laptop model. Install them and restart your laptop if required.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Windows has a built-in audio troubleshooter that can automatically diagnose and fix common sound problems. Search for "Troubleshoot" in the Windows search bar, select "Troubleshoot settings," and then choose "Playing Audio."

Check Hardware Connections:

  • Ensure that your laptop is properly connected to any external audio devices (e.g., headphones, external speakers). Disconnect and reconnect them to make sure the connection is secure.

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager." Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section, and check for any yellow exclamation marks or disabled audio devices. If you find any issues, try updating or enabling the affected device.

Disable Audio Enhancements:

  • Sometimes, audio enhancements can cause problems. Right-click on the speaker icon, select "Open Sound settings," click on "Sound Control Panel," and in the Properties window for your speakers, go to the "Enhancements" tab. Try disabling all enhancements.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Certain software applications or settings can interfere with audio playback. Try closing background applications and disabling unnecessary startup programs to see if they are causing the issue.

Restore to a Previous State:

  • If the issue started recently and you suspect it might be due to a recent software update or installation, you can use System Restore to revert your computer to a previous state when the speakers were working.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
