Dear HP Support Team,

I am writing to formally report a critical issue with my HP Omen laptop, which suddenly stopped working after around three years of normal usage. The device has not suffered any physical or liquid damage, and the failure occurred unexpectedly without warning.

I visited the HP-authorized service center at Chandi, where I was informed that the repair would be chargeable at approximately ₹35,000. Due to the high cost, I did not proceed with the repair and instead decided to contact HP Support directly

Hi @KOUSHIK9

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s incredibly disappointing—especially after years of reliable use. I can imagine how frustrating it must be to face such a steep repair estimate without any warning signs beforehand. You’ve absolutely done the right thing by reaching out directly.

Before diving into repair costs or escalation, let’s see if we can uncover what’s really going on with your laptop. Sudden failure without any physical damage can sometimes be traced to a power, BIOS, or internal component issue. Here’s a structured way to probe deeper:

🔍 Initial Checks

Power Light Behavior

  • Does the power LED turn on when you press the power button?
  • Any blinking patterns or color changes (e.g., white/orange)?

Fan and Display Response

  • Do you hear the fan spin up?
  • Does the screen stay completely black, or flicker briefly?

External Monitor Test

  • Connect to an external display via HDMI
  • If the external screen shows output, the issue might be with the laptop’s display

🔧 Quick Troubleshooting Steps

Hard Reset

  • Disconnect charger and all peripherals
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds
  • Reconnect charger and try powering on again

BIOS Recovery Attempt

  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds
  • Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B for 10–15 seconds
  • If BIOS recovery kicks in, follow the on-screen instructions

CMOS Reset

  • Try Windows + V with the same method as above
  • This can reset internal settings that may be blocking startup

Check for Beep or Blink Codes

  • If the laptop emits beeps or blinks, count them—they can indicate specific hardware faults

🧪 If It Powers On Briefly

  • Try booting into Safe Mode by pressing F11 repeatedly at startup
  • If it reaches BIOS (F10), check if the storage drive is detected
  • If it shuts off again, it could be a motherboard, RAM, or GPU issue

Let me know what you observe during these steps—especially the LED behavior and whether the fans or screen respond at all. We’ll use that to narrow things down and hopefully avoid a costly repair. 💪
