On this laptop my internet is fast when I first start it up but after a few minutes the internet on the laptop slows down to the point I'm lagging on any thing I play, I'm not sure if it's the driver or what.

Hi @Daviel1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with WIFI connectivity.
If your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15 is experiencing internet slowdowns shortly after startup, it could be due to several reasons, including driver issues, network settings, background applications, or even power management settings.
Steps to Troubleshoot and Fix Internet Slowdowns
Update Network Drivers:
- Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting Device Manager.
- Expand the Network Adapters section.
- Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers to check for the latest drivers.
- Alternatively, visit the HP Support website to download the latest network drivers specific to your laptop model.
Check Power Management Settings:
- Go to Device Manager and right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter.
- Choose Properties, then go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
- Click OK and restart your laptop.
Disable Network Throttling:
- Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters.
- Right-click on the right pane, choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it "DisableBandwidthThrottling".
- Set its value to 1 and then restart your laptop.
Disable Background Apps and Services:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
- Go to the Startup tab and disable any unnecessary applications that are set to start with Windows.
- Go to the Processes tab and check for any background apps consuming high bandwidth. Right-click and select End Task for unnecessary apps.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
