Hp pavilion power 15 cb0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello I own a hp pavilion power 15 cb023tx and it has been going below base speed so ranges around 2.1ghz-2.6ghz when ever the discrete GPU is being used. I have used throttlestop to see if there were any problems, and what I have found is that the CPU gets a constant EDP other while the gtx 1050 is being used.

Specs:

i7 7700hq quad core 2.8hz base, 3.8 turbo

Intel HD 630 graphics

Nvidia gtx 1050 4gb

8gb ram 2400mhz

1tb 7200rp

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

As I understand your device has been going below base speed. Don't worry as I'll be glad to help.

Did you try running the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics test on the PC?

While you respond to that, I have a few recommendations:

  • Update your Notebook computer BIOS to the latest version and the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX driver from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • If your HP Notebook computer came with HP CoolSense software, make sure it is updated to the latest version.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have done the things you have requested me to do, but none of those seem to solve the problem

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.

If issue still persist then run diagnostics to rule out other hardware issues

  1. Start or restart the computer.
  2. Press F2 repeatedly during start up to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility.
  3. Select Component Tests > Hard Drive > Quick Test.
  4. Click Run Once.

Once the test completes, results are displayed on the screen.

If the drive passes all tests, continue to restore a computer back to the factory default using Reset PC, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
