Hi @RoXtar12,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating that your HP Victus 16 battery is draining quickly, especially since you're not gaming, which typically consumes a lot of power. Here are a few things you can try to improve battery life.

Check Power Settings

  • Power Plan: Make sure your laptop is set to a power-saving mode. Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Power Mode, and select Best Power Efficiency.
  • Battery Saver: Turn on Battery Saver mode if you’re using your laptop for less intensive tasks (Settings > System > Power & Battery > Battery Saver).

Reduce Background Apps and Processes

  • Check the Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to see if any apps are using too many resources in the background. If you find any unnecessary apps or processes, close them.
  • Disable any startup programs that you don’t need (Task Manager > Startup tab).

Update Drivers and BIOS

  • Make sure your graphics drivers and BIOS are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes lead to excessive power consumption.
  • You can check for updates through HP Support Assistant or Device Manager.

Dim the Screen Brightness

  • Reducing the screen brightness can save a significant amount of battery. You can adjust it using the F2 and F3 keys, or through Settings > System > Display.

Turn off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when not needed

  • If you don't need an internet connection or Bluetooth devices, turning them off can save energy.

Battery Calibration

  • Sometimes a battery calibration can help resolve issues with battery reporting. To calibrate:
    • Charge your laptop to 100%, then let it discharge to 0%. After it turns off, fully charge it back to 100%.

Check Battery Health

  • If your battery health is degraded, it might be affecting the battery life. You can check the battery status by typing cmd in the search bar, running Command Prompt as administrator, and typing:

powercfg /batteryreport

  • This will generate a report showing the battery’s health and capacity.

Perform a Clean Boot

  • Sometimes a clean boot can help determine if background software is affecting battery life. You can perform this through System Configuration (type msconfig in the search bar and go to Selective Startup).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
