@Elihle1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Overheating!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Troubleshooting Overheating

Check for Blocked Vents: Ensure that the laptop vents are not blocked by dust or any objects. Use compressed air to clean out the dust from vents.

Use in a Cool, Well-Ventilated Area: Always use your laptop in a cool environment. Avoid using it on cushions or beds where the vents might get blocked.

Elevate the Laptop: Use a laptop cooling pad or stand to allow air to circulate beneath the laptop.

Check for Software Running in the Background: Processes running in the background can cause the system to overheat. Use Task Manager to see if there are unnecessary programs consuming resources.

Troubleshooting Freezing Issues

Update Drivers: Outdated drivers can cause hardware issues. Ensure that all your drivers, especially network drivers, are up to date.

Run a Virus/Malware Check: Sometimes, malware can lead to performance issues like freezing. Use Windows Defender or another reputable antivirus to scan your system.

Install Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date, as Microsoft frequently releases updates that can address such issues.

Check Network Settings: Go into your network settings and ensure there are no incorrect configurations that might be causing the freezing when connected to the internet.

Perform a Clean Boot: This can help determine if a background program is interfering with the operation of your device. Search for "msconfig" in the Start menu and navigate to the "Services" tab, then hide all Microsoft services and disable the rest, restarting your computer afterwards.

Restore System: If the issues started recently, you might want to use system restore to revert your system to a point where it was functioning without these problems.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
