I have an Hp omen laptop and recently a bios update was done. After the bios update happened my fans started making a noise. I have been trying to download the latest version of Bios from the Hp website but it says it isnt compatible with my device. I was wondering how to find the correct version of Bios to download.

Hi @Sperini,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Find the Correct BIOS Version

  • Go to HP’s Official Website: HP Support
  • Enter Your Model Number: Search for your exact model (e.g., OMEN 16-xxxx).
  • Go to BIOS/Firmware Section: Check if a new update is available.

2. Check Your Current BIOS Version

  • Press Win + R, type msinfo32, and hit Enter.
  • Look for BIOS Version/Date (e.g., F.17, F.25, etc.).
  • Compare it with the version on the HP website.

3. If HP Website Says "Not Compatible"

  • Ensure You're Downloading the Correct File: Sometimes, multiple versions exist for different variants of the OMEN 16.
  • Try HP Support Assistant: Download HP Support Assistant (here) and check for BIOS updates automatically.
  • Roll Back to Previous BIOS (if needed):
    • Restart your laptop and press F10 during boot to enter BIOS.
    • Look for "BIOS Rollback" or "Previous Version" under Advanced settings.

4. Manual BIOS Recovery (if the update caused issues)

  • Use HP BIOS Recovery Tool:
    • Create a BIOS recovery USB from another PC using this guide.
    • Boot the laptop from the USB drive and restore the previous BIOS.

Let me know how it goes.
