I want to upgrade storage but am having trouble understanding the Maintenance and Service Guide

OMEN by HP - 15t-dc000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an OMEN by HP - 15t-dc000 CTO, it currently has the default 7200 RPM HDD installed, I would like to install an M.2 SSD of some kind to use as the boot drive. I am having trouble understanding the maintenance and service guide for my laptop, I am not sure if I need an NVME or SATA SSD. Also, do I have to follow one of the dual storage configurations listed (i.e 128 GB, PCIe, NVMe, TLC, M.2, solid-state drive + 1 TB (7200) 9.5 mm/7.2 mm hard drive)?

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide

My specific model is under the second set of model numbers.

On page #2 of the manual, it clearly says machine supports dual storage options with M.2 NVMe SSD and 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD.

Your machine support M.2 NVMe SSD such as

     Or similar from reputable vendors.
