Subject: Storage Driver Not Detected During Windows Installation – HP Victus 15-fa0093ne (i5-12450H)
Description:
I’m unable to install Windows on my HP Victus 15-fa0093ne (Intel Core i5-12450H).
When I try to reinstall Windows using a USB installer, the Windows Setup does not detect my NVMe SSD.
I’ve already tried the following steps without success:
1. Tried all available Intel RST (IRST) drivers from Intel’s and HP’s official websites. also tried f6 suggestion — none of them make the SSD appear.2. Attempted to switch storage mode to AHCI or disable VMD from BIOS, but my BIOS doesn’t allow entering advanced settings to change those options.3. Used diskpart in Command Prompt — only two volumes appear:
Vol 0: my USB installation media
Vol 1: labeled UEFI_NTFS, File System: FAT
The SSD model is KIOXIA KXG80ZNV512G (HP part N12387-001), a 512GB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe drive.
I need HP’s help to:
Provide the correct storage driver (IRST or NVMe) compatible with my laptop model and this SSD.
Or guidance on how to access the motherboard’s advanced BIOS options to disable VMD or enable AHCI mode.

You already "tried all available Intel RST (IRST) drivers from Intel’s and HP’s official websites. also tried f6 suggestion."
Perhaps, the problem is not IRST drivers but something else. Here are some suggestions:
Launch F2 Hardware Diagnostics UEFI on bootup and run SMART check and extended DST test to check the integrity of the SSD. If the tests find an issue, it can be the reason the installation setup failed to detect the SSD.
The problem can be how the Windows installation usb drive was created. If you used an ISO file and a utility to make it bootable, use Microsoft media creation tool to make a new installation usb drive.
If you still can't detect the SSD, perhaps, the usb drive has a compatibility problem with the installation setup. Try a different usb. You just need a min. 8 GB usb drive.
Your notebook (822T7EA) came with W11 preloaded. You can use HP Cloud Recovery Tool to create a bootable recovery usb drive which restores the drive to a factory state.
See this article for how to use the recovery tool.

When you use another Windows PC to run the recovery software, you'll be prompted to provide the full product number (ProdID), which you can find on the bottom cover of the notebook.
BTW, HP consumer notebooks' BIOS doesn't come with an option to switch between RAID/VMD and AHCI.
