Product: HP -17-an051nd

Is OMEN by HP -17-an051nd laptop VR  ready? Specifically I want to buy it for oculus rift.

Are all  Omen HP -17 and HP -15  laptops  VR ready?

That model does have Thunderbolt which is required for VR. So yes its capable.

Not all omen laptops are capable though.
