Hi,

I just bought this laptop and just wondering if it's possible/safe to regularly use it with its' lid closed and putting it on a vertical stand?
I'm doing so because i'm connecting it to an external monitor. Just making sure that doing so long term wont cause damage

Thanks

Should be fine with the following caveats (considerations)..

Absolutely, the vents must be pointed where they can get good air circulation.  In other words, if you want to run the computer closed and stacked on its side, make sure you are also not stuffing it into a narrow opening where the computer cannot get enough air to cool it.

If you run the computer hard, that is, it gets hot while working, then having the case closed might dissipate less heat than if it were open.

Conversely, having the bottom free (exposed to the air) might actually cool the notebook enough or even better than having it sit on a desk.

Try it - check the behavior.  If the behavior is better one way than another (open, closed, tented (partly open)), then use that option when the computer is running warmer.

Still not sure?  Do take some time to read about your new computer.
