OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck1000 (509V8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

BE8A4A38-A76A-4453-8349-22D43237AC39.jpeg

I have an Omen 17 gaming laptop I got about 4 months ago for college. It’s been well taken care of, not even a scratch on it. Recently I opened it and noticed a horizontal line of ‘stuck’ pixels. I also noticed a scratch line at the same height. After examining I noticed that it falls perfectly on the line where the keyboard is. I know I’m going to have to get the screen repaired or get a replacement (bought through Costco) but what do I do to prevent this from happening again? It’s not like I can just take it to be repaired either, I need it for college and have a ton of stuff downloaded.

Thanks!

Hello @RushinOrDraggin

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

This is clearly a manufacturer's error. The keyboard should not press firmly against the screen when closing the notebook or when it is closed and cause this "damage". Something like this should not happen and was obviously not recognized during the quality control of the product.

I guess that service center will replace screen. It is questionable whether this is the ultimate solution if it is a design problem.

You should back up all, really all, data you need for your studies on an external USB hard drive. I can't tell you how long a repair will take or whether you might get another notebook. Be prepared that you should organize another (emergency) notebook !

Kind regards

Good luck
