Hi @ADI167 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing periodic lag in games despite having a decent configuration, several potential issues could be causing the problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check for Background Processes: Make sure no unnecessary background processes are running that could be consuming system resources. Close any unnecessary applications and check the Task Manager to see if any resource-intensive processes are running.
Update Drivers: Ensure that all your drivers are up-to-date, including graphics, chipset, and network drivers. Visit the official websites to download and install the latest drivers.
Power Settings: Ensure that your laptop is set to High-Performance mode in the power settings. Sometimes, laptops may default to power-saving modes, which can limit performance during gaming.
Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, system updates can include performance optimizations and bug fixes that may help resolve the issue.
Nvidia Control Panel Settings: Open the Nvidia Control Panel and check the 3D settings. Set the Power Management Mode to "Prefer Maximum Performance." This ensures that your GPU operates at its maximum performance level.
Temperature Monitoring: While you mentioned that you don't have overheating issues, it's still a good idea to monitor your temperatures during gaming. Use tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check if any components are reaching high temperatures.
Game Settings: Ensure that the in-game settings are optimized for performance. Lower graphics settings and resolution if necessary.
Storage Optimization: Check your HDD for fragmentation. If the drive is heavily fragmented, it might affect game loading times and performance. You can use the built-in Windows Disk Defragmenter for this.
Check for Malware: Perform a thorough antivirus and anti-malware scan to rule out the possibility of malware affecting system performance.
BIOS Update: Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop on the manufacturer's website. Updating the BIOS can sometimes improve system stability and performance.
Memory Issues: Run a memory diagnostic test to ensure your RAM is functioning properly. You can use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool for this.
Check for Windows 11 Compatibility: Make sure that your games are fully compatible with Windows 11. Some older games or applications may have compatibility issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
