Hi @Prince_98,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Victus 16-r0097nr laptop booting into Windows but the screen repeatedly going black and coming back. Let’s go through a few checks to isolate whether this is a display driver, graphics switching, or panel issue.

Check if the problem occurs in BIOS
Restart the laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS.
Stay in BIOS for a minute — if the screen does not flicker there, the issue is likely Windows or graphics drivers, not the display hardware.

Boot into Safe Mode
Turn the laptop on and interrupt startup 3 times to open Windows Recovery.
Go to Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart → Safe Mode.
If the screen works normally in Safe Mode, this confirms a graphics driver or refresh-rate issue.

Reinstall graphics drivers (clean install)
Download the latest Intel graphics driver and NVIDIA driver for the Victus 16-r0097nr from HP Support or the GPU manufacturers.
Install them after uninstalling the existing graphics drivers from Device Manager.

Turn off adaptive refresh / panel self refresh
In Intel Graphics Command Center → Power, disable Panel Self Refresh.
This commonly causes black-screen flickering on gaming laptops.

Test with an external monitor
Connect the laptop to an external display using HDMI.
If the external monitor works normally while the laptop screen flickers, the issue may be display panel cable or panel hardware.

Update BIOS
Check HP Support for the latest BIOS version for the Victus 16-r0097nr.
Display-initialization fixes are often included in BIOS updates.

Disable fast startup
Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → Turn off Fast Startup.
Fast startup can cause repeated display reinitialization after boot.

I hope this helps.
