Hp Pavilion gaming 15 2019
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop used to send me warning beeps after startup, which i thought were just a random app starting up. As far as I recall it was always 3 beeps. After around 10 days of usage with the beeps, and some noticed slowdowns, the laptop crashed and wouldnt boot up past the hp logo. The process would always get frozen on the loading circle with hp logo before starting windows. After multiple attempts of powering the laptop on, it would sometimes not show anything on screen, while other times I managed to get into the Bios to start some testing. My suspicion was that my Ram is faulty, so i opened the laptop and switched the ram into another slot, which didnt seem to make a difference. After 10 days of not booting up I tried again and the laptop booted up like nothings wrong, I even did a windows format reset and tested the performance with a couple of hours of gaming, no issues whatsoever. The day after the laptop wont boot again and I am basically at the beginning of the story all over again. Currently it showed a couple of times a caps lock error code. One time it was 4 slow 2 fast, and another time it got into bios and showed the CMOS cheksum is invalid (502).  What can I do here?

Hi @LelouchViBiH

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

It sounds like your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 is putting you through quite the adventure! Those warning beeps and mysterious shutdowns are definitely not the kind of drama you want from your laptop. Here’s a humorous take on how to tackle this tech dilemma, along with some practical steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Try recovering the bios using this link

HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)

Try these steps:

1. Count Those Beeps Like a Cuckoo Clock

  • You mentioned the beeping—three beeps usually indicate a RAM issue. Since you’ve already tried switching the RAM, let’s keep that detective hat on!

2. Check the CMOS Battery

  • The "CMOS checksum invalid" message is a bit of a red flag. It might be time to replace the CMOS battery, which helps keep your BIOS settings intact. Think of it as a mini power-up for your laptop’s memory!

3. Run Memory Diagnostics

  • Since you suspect the RAM, running Windows Memory Diagnostic could shed some light:
    1. Type "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the search bar.
    2. Choose "Restart now and check for problems."

4. Reseat Everything Again

  • Sometimes, it just takes a bit of a shake-up. Reseat the RAM, the storage drive, and any other removable components. It’s like giving your laptop a spa day!

5. Check for Firmware Updates

6. Check for Overheating

  • Ensure your laptop isn’t overheating. Dust buildup can be a sneaky culprit. Give it a good clean and ensure the vents are clear.

7. Restore Defaults in BIOS

  • If you can get into the BIOS, consider resetting it to default settings. Sometimes it just needs a reminder of how to behave.

I hope you can get your laptop back on track soon—after all, it deserves a break from this drama! Let me know if you need further assistance or have any updates!
