omen 16
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,
So basically my other laptop's display is not showing any information on screen once windows starts up although the laptop is turned on properly. The startup omen logo is being seen perfectly well.
I'm even able to control the brightness where-in the black screen goes to dark grey when I increase the brightness,
This issue popped up randomly, what can I do to fix it?
Kindly help me out!

@aj_95, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

External Display Check

First, let's confirm whether the problem is strictly with the laptop's built-in screen or something more systemic (like the GPU or OS).

Connect to an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort.

If the external display shows everything correctly (Windows desktop, icons, etc.), this confirms that your laptop's GPU and Windows installation are functioning fine, and the issue is likely with the laptop's display hardware.

If there is no signal on the external monitor either, the issue could be related to your GPU or something deeper in the system.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

If Safe Mode works, your issue is likely related to graphics drivers. Here’s how you can troubleshoot:

Right-click on Start > Device Manager.

Expand Display Adapters.

Right-click on your graphics driver and select Update Driver. You can search online for the latest drivers or choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

If updating doesn’t work, uninstall the driver and restart. Windows should attempt to install a generic graphics driver on boot.

BIOS/UEFI Reset

Sometimes, the problem can stem from the BIOS/UEFI settings. You can reset it to default settings to rule out any configuration issues.

Turn off your laptop.

Turn it back on and immediately press F2.

Once in BIOS, you should have an option to Restore Defaults or Load Setup Defaults.

Save and exit the BIOS and check if this resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
