So, I bought this laptop a year ago and it was working great until the beginning of 2019 all of a sudden, I launch a game that ran good before this happened and my fps dropped tremendously and non stop stuttering happens and just overall doesn't run good on any games. I am not sure if my laptop is degrading or I use it to much but I really need help solving this issue.

I really need help solving this issue, I bought a game for 60 dollars and it won't even run good on my laptop.

Does the computer freeze or shutdown due to overheating?

Does the fan spin at all or if it does is it loud ad noisy?

Are you having issues only with one particular game or with all the games.

 

In the meantime, let's try these steps here: 

 

Let's start off by running the Windows update troubleshooter.

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

 

Now try to perform Windows Updates - 

 

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates. 
2) Check for updates. 
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer. 

 

Now I would suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

 

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

 

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

    Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

 

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

I don't think that is the solution, I think it may be my battery inside my laptop. I'm not sure if its just degrading overtime but it dies 20 minutes after the charger being plugged out and heats up while its unplugged, and I think I need to take this to the geek squad over at best buy where I bought the laptop and get some help their, thank you for your time tho 🙂

Try running a battery test using the HP support assistant and check if the battery is functioning correctly.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

 

In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow. Make sure to include the space between sfc and the /.
Press Enter and wait while System File Checker scans for corrupted files.
When scanning is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
If the file checker found and replaced any corrupted files, restart the computer and check the performance.
If the file checker did not find any corrupted files or found corrupted files but could not replace them, go to the next step.
If System File Checker finds corrupted files but cannot replace them, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. DISM checks the corrupted files; then downloads and replaces the files using Windows Update.
In Windows, open a web browser.
   NOTE:
You need to be connected to the Internet to use DISM.
In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Make sure to include the space before each / in the command line.
Press Enter and wait while DISM works. This might take several minutes.
If DISM finds corrupted files, it replaces them using Windows Update. If this occurs, after DISM is finished, restart your computer and see if the performance has improved.
