From day one the screen would pop in and out of working. I was able to get it to work most of the time by slightly closing the lid. Now it's black screen 100% of the time. If I shine a bright torch on the screen I can make a few things out. Hp live chat tells me my laptop does not exist. I have checked cables and taken the battery out and power cycled.

I assume you are still under warranty, correct?

If so, I will ask the mods to have a Rep contact you.

So I pried open the front panel. Seems the cable is either faulty or was improperly installed. I had to push the cable on the monitor panel with quite some force and it seems to be working. I'm leaving the country within a few days for work so I'll look about for an extra cable/ panel in case it fries itself.

And yes I'm still under warranty.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
