Hi @pauljuhi22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 15.6-inch laptop isn't turning on, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

Check the Power Source:

  • Ensure the power adapter is plugged in properly and connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet.
  • Try a different outlet to rule out a problem with the power source.

Inspect the Power Adapter and Cable:

  • Check for any visible damage to the power adapter or cable. If you have a spare adapter, try using it to see if the laptop turns on.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove any connected peripherals (e.g., USB devices, external drives).
  • If the laptop has a removable battery, take it out. Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
  • Reinsert the battery (if applicable) and plug in the power adapter. Try turning on the laptop again.

Check the Battery:

  • If the laptop has a removable battery, try powering it on with just the power adapter connected (without the battery). If it turns on, the battery might need replacement.

Inspect the Laptop Display:

  • Make sure the screen is not the issue by shining a flashlight at an angle to check if you can see faint images or text on the screen.
  • Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if the issue is with the display.

Listen for Sounds:

  • Pay attention to any beeping sounds or lights when you press the power button. Beeping codes can indicate hardware issues.

Check the RAM:

  • If you’re comfortable opening the laptop, try reseating the RAM modules or checking if they’re properly connected.

Look for LED Indicators:

  • Some laptops have LED indicators for power or battery status. Check if these LEDs light up or blink in any specific pattern.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
