HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-dk0052tx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello there,

I have an issue with battery charging. Even after plugging in with AC adapter, the charging % remains same. After long use it is dropping as well.

Recently I have consulted HP service guy through WhatsApp, went through many troubleshooting, at end he told to replace battery. Yesterday I've replaced battery and did the 4hrs calibration check. When the check started it was 8% and ended with 2%.

What is the possible problem?

Before this, I have upgraded M2 SSD to Samsung 970EVO plus and HDD to Samsung 870 QVO SSD. Now lap is running with 2TB. Further more, before 3 months I have also upgraded ram to 24gb (earlier 12gb). Is these upgradation is affecting battery charging?

Unfortunately I brought Lap from India and currently I'm in KSA. To find a HP authorised service center here I need to travel another city.

Can anyone help me with this? Appreciate your valuable suggestions & answers.

Hi@abhi1990,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing charging issues with the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop PC. I apologize for the Inconvenience.

I have a few recommendations

  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Try with an alternate charger and check if it works
  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • For Testing and Calibrating the Battery please click this link

Try changing the power mode to "Balanced" or "Better Performance" as the default setting.

Go to "Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options" > "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings"
Scroll down, click on "Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Setting" > "Config TDP Level",
Then select the middle value for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In".
Scroll further down. Select "Processor power management";
Then select "Maximum processor state";
Change the value from 100% to 96% for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In" options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Exactly the same as mine last week.

It is working perfectly now.

I reinstalled the BIOS. That was all that was needed - charges perfectly to 100% again now.

Hi@abhi1990, @Bargee1

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.

Good to know that the issue is resolved. Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help to improve computer performance, provide support for hardware components or Windows upgrades, or install specific BIOS updates. CAUTION: Only install BIOS updates from HP

Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance.

Have a great day!
