Hi @Carlyel,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

If your HP laptop is experiencing a CMOS 502 error and also not holding the battery, here are the steps you can take to resolve these issues.

Reset the CMOS:

  • Plug in the AC adapter.
  • Turn off the computer and wait for at least five seconds.
  • Press and hold the Windows key + V key.
  • While continuing to hold these keys, press and hold the power button for at least two seconds and no more than three seconds.
  • Release the power button but keep holding the Windows + V keys until you see a screen showing the CMOS Reset process or hear beeping sounds.

Update the BIOS:

  • Ensure that your BIOS is up-to-date, as outdated software might affect battery performance.
  •  Download any available updates from the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.

I hope this helps,

Take care and have an amazing day!
