Hi @Justdogginit66

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP laptop has shut off and won't turn on, and the charging light is off, the issue might be related to power, battery, or internal hardware problems.

Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Power Source:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to both the laptop and the electrical outlet.
  • Try using a different electrical outlet or power strip to rule out issues with the power source.

Inspect the Power Adapter:

  • Inspect the power adapter and cable for any visible damage or fraying.
  • If available, try using a different compatible power adapter to see if the laptop powers on.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter from the laptop.
  • Remove the battery if your laptop has a removable battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then attempt to power on the laptop.

Check for Signs of Life:

  • Listen for any sounds from the laptop (e.g., fans spinning).
  • Look for any flickering or brief illumination of the LED indicators or screen.

Battery Issues:

  • If the laptop uses a removable battery, reseat the battery to ensure proper contact.
  • If the laptop has a built-in battery, consider reaching out to HP support for further diagnosis, as internal battery issues may require professional servicing.

Inspect for Overheating:

  • Allow the laptop to cool down if it was being used for an extended period of gaming and felt hot.
  • Make sure that ventilation ports aren't blocked, and consider using a cooling pad.

These steps can help identify common problems related to power and startup issues.

Let me know what model you’re using (e.g., HP Omen, Pavilion, etc.) and whether the battery is removable—I’ll tailor the next steps. We’ll get you back in the game.
