The monitor is using LG UltraGear 27GR93U, and the laptop is using HP OMEN 16 (2022).

When I connect my laptop with HDMI, the entire laptop stops, and the monitor doesn't have a signal. Sometimes it pops up a blue screen.

I tried changing the graphics driver and HDMI cable, but it still doesn't work.

I think the laptop's HDMI port or a software problem. I am not sure how to fix it.

Hi @Sihyun,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Does the laptop work normally when not connected to the monitor, or do you see freezes/blue screens even without HDMI?
  • Have you tried connecting the laptop to a different external display (TV or another monitor) to see if the issue repeats?
  • When the blue screen appears, do you notice any error code or message?
  • Are you using the HDMI port directly on the laptop, or through an adapter (like USB-C to HDMI)?

Troubleshooting steps to try

  1. Check Windows Updates
Make sure your system is fully updated. Sometimes stability fixes are included in cumulative updates.
  2. Update BIOS and chipset drivers
Visit  https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers  for the OMEN 16 (2022) and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers. Outdated firmware can cause issues.
  3. Test with another monitor/TV
This helps confirm if the HDMI port itself is faulty or if the issue is specific to the LG UltraGear.
  4. Try a different refresh rate/resolution
Before plugging in the HDMI cable, set your laptop’s display resolution to something lower (like 1920×1080 at 60Hz). Then connect the monitor and see if it stabilizes.
  5. Disable hybrid graphics temporarily
In OMEN Gaming Hub or BIOS, try forcing the laptop to use only the dedicated GPU. Sometimes switching between integrated and discrete graphics causes crashes.

I hope this helps.
